Abstract of the talk

Transition metal phthalocyanine (TM-Pc) grafted to two-dimensional materials
constitute promising platforms for densely packed single-molecule magnets
(SMMs).
Here, I will provide a background in this field as well as I will share
the main
results of our recent theoretical first-principles calculations.

For example, our ab initio calculations in the framework of the density
functional
theory indicate that (Fe-PC) could be covalently adsorbed to graphene layer.
Further, using the combination of group theory, ligand field splitting,
and the
calculated eigenvalue spectrum, we resolved the electronic structure and
predict the
spin states of both isolated FePc  and FePc-graphene hybrid systems. The
studies
mediate a successful synthesis of densely packed FePc molecules on
graphene and may
open up a new avenue in designing scalable 2D material–SMM hybrid systems for
spintronics applications.
